Association pour l'Integration et le Developpement Durable au Burundi (AIDB)

AIDB-Burundi organization is NGO of indigenous peoples in special consultative status with UN ECOSOC since 2012 and member of UN Global Compact. This NGO is accredited to the green climate fund and to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
It carries out the activities on environment protection, human rights in all provinces of Burundi for indigenous peoples and many oral and written statements are exposed in the several UN sessions in Geneva and New York from 2011.
During the GEF Council consultation to the CSOs, AIDB contributes for setting up the new mechanisms for involving of the indigenous peoples to the GEF program. It contribute also in the online survey of Independent Evaluation Office of GEF for improving the policies of implementation for projects at National level

Purpose of Organization:

- Energy and Environmental Management, sensitization of the indigenous peoples to contribute to the adaptation and mitigation of the climate change, sustainable forest management, to the environment preservation for land degradation, international water etc   
- Indigenous peoples -Based Violence Prevention; care; advocacy to the government for involving the indigenous peoples in the environment protection program and Response

- HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care

AIDB NGO manages the grassroots capacity building on the indigenous peoples' rights to the lands, territories and resources. It contributes in the programs of united Nations for exposing the written and oral statements in the plenary sessions in Geneva and in New York so that the indigenous peoples of Burundi and of Africa have the rights to the best food and the fundamental rights. the activities on cultural rights are also the focal area in the program of this organization. AIDB sensitize the indigenous peoples about the GEF new policies for environment protection and how they can profit the benefit of the environment. In Burundi, we continue to carry out the workshops on the land right to the community Batwa so that this population can have the access to the resources as others citizens. We encourage the Burundi government to involve the Batwa indigenous peoples in the various projects on sustainable forest management, land degradation etc.
