LEAD Pakistan

Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) is a not-for-profit organization committed to promote change towards economically sustainable, socially equitable and environmentally responsible development.

LEAD Pakistan was established in 1995. It incorporated an innovative capacity building program designed to provide knowledge, awareness, skills, exposure and linkages to leaders of tomorrow, in order for them to integrate sustainable development concerns in their work. The program engages with senior and middle level managers representing the corporate, public and business sectors, as well as the media, academia, and civil society. LEAD Pakistan also undertakes policy research and dialogue and outreach initiatives designed to promote synergy among the different stakeholders in national development.

LEAD Pakistan’s mission is to create, strengthen and support networks of people and institutions. These networks are then used to promote change towards development that is economically sound, environmentally responsible and socially equitable.

Purpose of Organization:

Since its inception, LEAD has contributed in substantial and substantive terms towards furthering sustainable development in Pakistan by identifying and clarifying issues of significance. This is evinced from its widely disseminated resource materials in the shape of publications, research studies, updates, case studies, and policy documents.

Since 1996, LEAD has expanded exponentially both in size as well as scope - from a staff of three, to over 100 people in four specialized departments and from one office in Islamabad, to various field offices across the country with outreach at the national, regional and international levels.
LEAD Pakistan started project implementation at the grassroots level in 2004. In a short span of less than a decade, it have successfully developed and delivered more than 150 development initiatives. They   operate all over Pakistan (national & provincial) as well as abroad in fields such as Health, Environment, Agriculture, Education, Democracy and Governance.
