Bahamas National Trust

The Bahamas National Trust is the only non-profit in the world to manage a country’s national parks system. It is a membership based organization which has members from several countries. It is governed by a 21-member council, which convenes at least annually and sets policy for the organization. Accomplishments include, having the first marine reserve in the wider Caribbean, the west indian flamingo and other endangered/threatened species have been rescued from the brink of extinction. Extensive areas of valuable wetlands, forests and other ecosystems
