Ghetto Artists has been working in Francistown for over 15 years, primarily using the performing arts linked with life-skills education to address various community concerns. Partners and Networks
The organisation has worked with many national and regional partners including BAOTA (Botswana Association of Theatre Activities), SATI (Southern African Theatre Initiative), BOCONGO (Botswana Coalition of NGOs), BONASO (Botswana Network of AIDS Service Organisations) and AYA (African Youth Alliance) Center for the deaf, Francistown primary Schools ,Junior Secondary Schools, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture, Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime and Senior Schools and lastly Botswana Television. Their work has been recognized with many awards from various offices

Purpose of Organization:

EDUCATING AND EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE,ADULTS,THE VULNERABLE POPULATION ON ALL SOCIAL ILLS USING PERFORMING ARTS FOR POSITIVE BEHAVIORAL CHANGE

GEF/SGP involvement:

Ghetto Artists received financial support from the Environment Facility Small Grants Programme. Implemented on   behalf of the three Implementing Agencies that is United Nations Development Programme Fund (UNDP), UNEP and the WORLD BANK –and executed by United Nations Office for Project Services. The project aims at increasing knowledge and awareness among youth on significance of safe water in Botswana   targeting youth aged 10+ in 8 schools, the project is entitled “WATER CONSERVATION ,EVERY DROP COUNTS”” in the North-East District based at rural areas

Experience:

The organisation conducted capacity building to the students
Safe Water Clubs were strengthened and established
Water Conservation messages increased among students
