Caribbean Network for Integrated Rural Development

The Caribbean Network for Integrated Rural Development [CNIRD] is an independent, regional non-governmental organisation founded in 1988, whose focus is on networking with national and sub-regional intermediaries based in the Caribbean region, with the objective of achieving integrated rural development CNIRD was therefore established with a view to help promote and advance the process of rural transformation in the Caribbean, especially as regards youth and women. CNIRD was born out of a concern, expressed by community development practitioners in the Caribbean, that the governments of the region and existing NGOs were not sufficiently combining their resources to respond to the socio-economic problems of the rural sector. CNIRD was therefore established with a view to help promote and advance the process of rural transformation in the Caribbean, especially as regards youth and women.
