Asociación Sotz'il

The Asociación Sotz'il is a Mayan organization, technical and political non-partisan character, promotes the development of indigenous peoples from their approaches and community demands within the framework of their collective rights and values of their identity, culture and cosmogony thought. It works through an integrated platform of professionals and cultural experts, where she works locally in coordination with indigenous communities nationwide with indigenous organizations, government institutions, NGOs and the Academy and at regional and international level which will generate proposals and participation in key areas around the issues of collective rights of indigenous peoples, climate change.

Purpose of Organization:

To promote a model of pluralist and develop self-management that will generate proposals and alternatives of technical and political character in the environmental, economic, social and cultural fields, with the purpose to overcome the problems facing the Mayan people in particular, as we contribute to the process of development and construction of plural sustainable for Guatemala.

Experience:

Indigenous peoples, a process of participation and incidence of peoples is made on the subject of Natural Resources currently it has positioned the issue of strengthening indigenous Use Systems Management and Conservation.

The issue of protected areas work, change drastically raising the issue of traditional knowledge.
