Regional Focal Point launches outreach campaign in the Eastern Europe and Central Asian region of the GEF-NGO Network.
By Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN)
CENN, RFP for the EECA region, recently launched an outreach campaign aimed at increasing the membership of the GEF-NGO Network in the EECA region that includes Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
The EECA region currently contains 15 active members, and has no Network representation in 4 of the 9 EECA countries. For this reason it was decided to launch an outreach campaign that aims to double membership in the region, and revitalize members’ activity.
The campaign has already updated the GEF-NGO Network outreach flyer and translated it into Russian, contacted National Coordinators of the GEF’s Small Grants Programme, and disseminated its call for applications amongst the EECA Network members. The campaign has also had the flyers distributed via CENN’s electronic network, which has over 18,000 subscribers.
The next stage of the campaign will consist of the dissemination of the outreach materials directly into target countries’ information networks and mailing lists. This is expected to raise both the profile of the GEF-NGO Network in these countries and the number of members over the coming months.
